Philadelphia, Pennsylvania will become the nation’s first major city to reinstate an indoor mask mandate on April 18, 2022. The city’s mandate has been lifted for less than a month and is being reintroduced in response to public health metrics. As the Omicron subvariant known as BA.2 becomes more common in the U.S., it is possible other jurisdictions will also put COVID measures back into place.
